Representing institutions and individuals
Fine, Wyatt & Carey is one of the oldest law firms in the Northeastern Pennsylvania counties of Wayne, Susquehanna and Lackawanna. The firm traces its beginnings to 1929, when Louis A. Fine began the practice of law in Forest City, Pennsylvania. In 1932, he opened an office in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Over the next 50 years, what began as an individual practice expanded into the Scranton area and surrounding counties. The firm of Fine, Wyatt & Carey now maintains offices in both Scranton and Honesdale, the county seats of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties, respectively.

Although Fine, Wyatt & Carey offers a full range of personal and business legal services, the majority of the firm's practice is focused on defense of civil litigation on a federal, state and administrative level. Areas of concentration for the firm include personal injury, products liability, professional liability and workers compensation.

Our clientele includes insurance companies and their assureds, self-insured entities, professionals, municipalities, corporations and individuals. We protect the interests of these clients in the Courts of Common Pleas of most counties in the eastern half of Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia), and the interests of these clients in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in Scranton, Harrisburg and Williamsport. Three of our attorneys are admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

When necessary, we are able to  secure representation for clients in other parts of the country through a network of defense firms with similar expertise and experience. We are happy to accept referrals from law firms and companies throughout the United States and Canada.

We believe that we can exist and succeed in the practice of law only insofar as we are able to provide the services that our clients need and expect. There is certainly no shortage of qualified, efficient law firms available to counsel and advise those in need of legal representation. Individuals are more sophisticated and knowledgeable about the law than ever before, and corporate clients must consider carefully the expenditure of time and money involved in litigation.

Nothing is more important to us than effective communication with the client. It is not possible to serve a client's needs unless those needs are clearly understood. We strive to establish a personal rapport with each of our clients and to keep them apprised of all developments in litigation through frequent personal contact, whether by phone, fax, letter or e-mail.

Although we are large enough to handle such complex litigation as professional liability and products liability defense, we are small enough to remain flexible and responsive to the needs of our clients.
